A crime prevention training program designed to address both youth criminalization and victimization.
The opportune time to ensure the safety and security of youth is before they have developed the desire or ability to commit criminal offenses.
Youth-focused crime prevention identifies youth as one of the most vulnerable segments of society. Youth can be both the victims and perpetrators of criminal behavior.
The definition of "youth" can vary depending upon the context, but generally it refers to the period of life between childhood and adulthood. It typically encompasses the ages of adolescence and early adulthood, roughly from the teenage years to the early 20's.
This training program addresses a broad variety of youth crime prevention-related programs and initiatives including:
Avoiding child exploitation
Preventing child sexual abuse
Protecting youth from sextortion
Life skills training for youth
Avoiding gun violence
Preventing teen dating violence
The role of Student Resource Officers in youth crime prevention
